When I was younger - say 18 or 19 - I used to follow the Philippine Entrepreneur magazine religiously. My mom had an office in the Galleria Suites which was connected to the mall Robinson’s Galleria so even if I didn’t buy the magazines I had a good amount of time reading them. I was personally interested in the stories of how successful businessmen got to where they are and was partly driven by one of their annual features, The 35 Under 35, which talked about the 35 upcoming business people under the age of 35. I had hopes on getting on that list someday.
So what if I told you I’d make a billion pesos in 10 years? The idea sounds really hard but I think I’m up to it. My plan is to open up a clothing store in 1 year and then grow it exponentially - growing yearly from 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32. This means that within five years I plan on opening 30 stores which would most likely make me a million pesos yearly.
After putting up 30 stores, the plan is to invest in supplies which would then allow me to expand easier. This means opening various streams of income (sidelines) from the same source of supply. By that time, my grasp of the market should be able to easily put up stores/acquire existing stores and prop up my profits.
Applying the same strategy of one store producing a new one every year, I think I could actually double my output. This means that, in the following 5 years, my 32 stores would produce 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024 stores with significant sources of funding. And if I’m projecting this right, with 1000 stores in ten years, and with me manning my own supplies, I would as well be able to multiply my earnings a hundred-fold so that my million pesos become a billion.

Blogging is probably one of those lucrative home business opportunities that people probably aren’t paying attention to. Just this week, a blog hard authored by one man was sold for $15 million dollars. Other blogs today are definitely worth more.
One way for you to make money online is by managing multiple blogs, say 4 or 5. And while blogging does entail huge demands from writing, code-tweaking (or in my case tweak vista), advertising, and community-connecting, those who make a living through blogging are able to do this by creating structure for their niches, beginning with their primary blog.
I consider a primary blog as a weblog that’s identifiable with all other blogs. For example, in my early days, even if I were authoring 5 blogs, people would continue to link to me via my personal blog. That’s because all my blogs were identifiable with my personal blog. Several months after, I created another blog - BackLineMedia - and sought for all my blogs to be identified with it. BackLineMedia has now gotten the largest traffic among all my blogs while my personal blog is only read by my friends.

Whether it’s the household or the corporation, budgets will always be part of the way we live. It should be, in a way, one of our priorities to be able to allocate things properly. To some it’s a matter of saving up for a better tomorrow, for others it’s about making sure everything is covered.
It sounds pretty basic until you realize that budgeting actually make sense because there always isn’t enough. In which case, the allocation of resources becomes a necessity. Below are some steps you can take in order to make budgets work.
Are You Willing to Follow It?
Some people create a diet plan that they don’t follow and some people create a budget plan that’s neglected the day after. Think of it this way - it is never the lack of budget that’s at fault, rather it’s the managing of the resources.
Is Everyone Considerate of the Budget
Aware is one thing; considerate is another. Whether it’s the family or the business, always make sure that everyone understands that there is a limit to the purchase that a unit makes, and that liabilities can only go so far.
Is It Realistic
You don’t provide your home a budget that will take care of everything when amounts only to the phone bill, right? As opposed to treating budget as a way to cut costs, it would be better to see it as a way to distribute resources and responsibilities.
Look at the Last Month
If a budget works, you stick to it. If not then you find new ways. One of the most effective strategies to get a good idea of whether budgeting is done properly is by looking at past bills. Maybe you cut on washing machine time this month and that’s why the electric bill went down. Maybe it was the events you had that spruced it up. It’s always better to have some basis.
Calculate
Of course budgeting includes math. But when you calculate are doing it right? I would go after businesses in this regard because there is a variety of ways that a business is budgeted. But for homeowners, I would suggest slashing 10% off to put in the bank, and the rest is what you work yourself with.
Revise
Things always change - today will never be like yesterday. Prices will rise, costs will incur, services will be accrued. No budget is full-proof; you have to be able to adapt.

The Professional Regulation Commission under the stewardship of the new Chairman, former Court of Appeals Justice Nicolas P. Lapeña announced the opening of PRC extension service center at Ever Gotesco Manila Plaza, Recto Avenue, Manila on October 2, 2008.
A ribbon cutting ceremony to be followed by the signing of Memorandum of Agreement will be held at 10:00AM. Ms. Lara Bacani, leasing head and manager Ruth Feril confirmed readiness of the facility.
Services in the extension office will cover processing of applications of first time applicants in various licensure examinations, verification of ratings in recently released examination results and registration of new successful examinees for big examinations like nurses, teachers and CPAs.
“As the number of examinees and professionals grow over the years, it is imperative to decentralize our frontline over-the-counter services to provide convenience to clients and decongest the old building in Morayta, Manila.” Chairman Lapeña said.
Commissioner Nilo L. Rosas, in-charge of the project cited, “We are grateful that Ever Gotesco management, a private entity, extended its helping hand to PRC in the name of public service.”
The contract was signed by Chairman Nicolas P. Lapeña and Mr. Joel Go, Executive Assistant to the President of Ever Gotesco.
The PRC service center sits on a 246 square meter area located at the 2nd floor of Ever Gotesco U-belt. A numbering system machine, paging system, comfortable chairs, excellent air-conditioning system and a spacious area will perk up customer’s convenience.
Meanwhile, Tawi Tawi, Mindanao Governor Hadji Sadikul A. Sahali has requested the PRC to put up a satellite office in Bongao, Tawi Tawi.
In his letter, the Governor reasoned economic hardship of his people as the key factor in requesting PRC Manila to consider his request. “Traveling to PRC Zamboanga from Tawi Tawi entails huge amount which my people cannot afford. If the PRC heed our request, it would be a great help for us.” Sahali said.
Sta Cruz Zambales Mayor Luisito Marty and General Trias Mayor Jon Jon Ferrer expressed willingness to sit and discuss with PRC Commissioners about the project.

Let’s look at some of the benefits of social networking: You can upload videos and photos, email, you can add ratings and view comments. These makes for a very trend-setting environment - an environment populated by what’s cool. And this is a very good feature for businesses to have. Indeed, companies Sears and Kmart have come out with their own brand of social network, with features from rating apparel to shopping online.
Small businesses have also gotten into the action through free services such as Ning or the Boonex Dolphin script. What’s great about both sites is that you get alot of the features that major social networking have but you are able to apply it to a smaller community.
The benefits of social networking for business is that it can create a following for your site. It can also allow for a good source of feedback and allow your consumers to be able to engage each other. By adding features such as photo and video, you would also have a good understanding of your demographic - are they young, old, business folks, video gamers, etc. But most of all, I think the best thing it can do for your company is create a word of mouth type of appeal which is a lot cheaper than print or tv advertising.
Some tips:
- If you’d like to use social networking for your business I suggest you go for Ning.com because you wouldn’t have to be internet savvy to even create an account.
- Creating a social network would be very hard at first because you will have to build it up.
- Perception is key. Make sure that your company and/or product is recognized by the members of your community, but do it in a subtle way. People are usually turned off by the idea that they are being used as a marketing tool.
- Be wary of the internet evils. You hate spam just as everybody else and when you do enter into the social networking industry, your members will have those qualms about your site.
- Make sure you are engaged in your social network. You dont necessarily want to invite members and then leave them out with nothing. Sure the features are there to keep them happy but you must always offer something better.
